New Yoga Studio

NEW Yoga Studio
YOGA EAST

I haven't posted any articles for a while because my partner and I have been busy renovating the upstairs section of a building on the Main street of Bairnsdale with the aim of making it into a beautiful friendly space to practise yoga.

                                                                        From this ...

                                                                                     To this ...
While Bairnsdale is a only medium sized regional town with maybe a population of 15,000 or so, and I have enjoyed the last 5 years teaching yoga around the area in local halls meeting lots of great people, it seemed only appropriate that we too had a place for local people to learn and practice yoga as well as a place for others to offer up their health and wellness activities/courses/workshops. We also have two consulting rooms - still being painted - that we hope will be occupied by health/wellness therapists offering their wonderful services. Let's see who pops up ...over to you universe!

In all the whole experience has been amazing and everything has just seemed to have fallen into place bringing home the reality of not resisting or trying to force change in your life rather allowing your path to unravel. Having said that of course, I completely understand how blessed I am to live in this country, at this time in history, where so much is possible. Those of us fortunate enough to live in a peaceful country have the potential to really make a positive difference in peoples' lives in the decisions we make and how we choose to live and share our lives.

Om shanti, shanti, shanti,

Love, light and laughter,
Margot

Reiki reduces stress and promotes relaxation and healing. Reiki is a 'hands on healing' technique based on channeling the 'unseen life force energy' that flows through us and causes us to be alive. If our 'life force energy' is low we are more likely to get sick or feel stressed, but when high we are more capable of being happy and healthly.

Learning Reiki with Andrea Tyrrell, a Reiki Master Teacher and Practitioner, is a rewarding experience and by the end of the day you will feel comfortable and confident practising Reiki on yourself and others. Whether you are interested in lerning Reiki for your own healing energy, or to heal others the time is NOW.

Spring Yn & Yang

SPRING
 YIN & YANG
Oct 11th
Sunday morning 9 - 11.30am

Can you believe it Spring has finally unfurled :)
So let's leap into action and work some yoga magic on mind, body and spirit.

I am truly ready to hop, skip and jump into spring and shake off winter with this Spring Yin & Yang Workshop.

We will be working firstly with 'Yang' yoga - a dynamic, active and heating practice. 'Yang' yoga works the muscles and circulates blood around the body. The sequence is designed to open up the whole body: sides, front and back. There will be lashings of twists to aid digestion, detox and generally release stiffness throughout the body.

We then move into 'Yin' yoga which is quiet, meditative and  cooling practice. A yin practice works with the connective tissue rather than muscles and provides deep release around the joints and creates space in the body for healing energy and fluids to flow. In this section, we move slowly into some juicy yin poses and begin to work more deeply with releasing deep tissue around our joints restoring our natural range of movement. We will also be focusing on massaging and nourishing the spring meridian pathways - liver/gallbladder.  To finish we will explore pranayama to balance mind and body before sitting quietly in meditation and then relaxing down into savasana.

Yin Yoga Intensive
 HIP HIP HOORAY
August 22nd
Saturday 2.30 - 4.30pm

 Hip openers!
Love or hate...which one are you?

There is that moment in yoga class usually towards the end when the teacher begins to ease us into hip openers - pigeon or frog - and it is at this point that many of us want to pack up our mat and leave. The teacher will reassuringly ask us to be still and breathe into tightness as if this will make it magically disappear. Yet the after effects of these poses keep us coming back for more. Hip openers are poses to be treasured as they counteract the stress of modern living with its sedentary lifestyle and lack of movement. Another huge bonus and benefit we can release stuck emotions that become lodged in our tissues making us lighter in mind, body and spirit.
Enjoy the release!

Restorative Yoga: 3 reasons to do more relaxing and unwinding.

Restorative Yoga...why do it?

Relax all the way down to your cells.
Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend :)

Notice and feel more of the world through your yoga experience.

1. Slow Down the Pace of Life
Restorative yoga is an excellent opportunity to slow down from the frenetic activity of daily life by offering a welcome respite among all the business of 21st century life. Restorative yoga helps to prepare the mind and body for meditation and deepened awareness.

2. Soothe Your Nervous System
Ahhh the slower pace and deep breathing practiced in a restorative yoga class triggers our parasympathetic nervous system and helps to reduce the effects of the regular fight-or-flight stress response that can damage your sense of well-being. The deeply relaxing experience of a restorative practice comforts and calms your mind, nervous system and body all the way down to the cellular level.

3.Encourages Mindfulness
Another name for restorative yoga could be “mindful yoga” because slower movements combined with relaxed and deep breathing encourage an expanded embodied awareness. Moving slowly cultivates space for a deeper experience of the poses, the breath and a heightened awareness of physical sensations, thoughts or emotions that arise, or sounds in the environment. These can all take on a richer and more profound significance in the depth of the restorative practice.

See you on the bolster!

Love & Peace, Margot xx
